Harpers Ferry - Roanoke Road Trips
Overlooks Historic Village Hiking National Parks
When you open up your Road Trip radius to 4 hours, another world opens up living in Roanoke. This is the second part of the Road Trips From Roanoke Va series and this time we're going to Harper's Ferry National Historic Park and Great Falls Park.
Both parks require an entrance fee to park, but if you are a National Park Annual Pass holder both parks are at no charge.
Editor's Note: We try hard to be accurate in our reporting but please always use multiple references before driving to a trailhead as trail amenities and conditions can always change.
Getting To Harpers Ferry, WV
Harpers Ferry Additional Information:
Getting to Harper's Ferry was a breeze. Once you arrive I recommend checking into the parking here on the National Park Service to familiarize yourself with the shuttle. I would have loved to have more time to check out Harper's Ferry Historic District but I'll have to save that for a future trip.
Getting To Great Falls, Va
Great Falls Park Additional Info:
Great Falls Park was about an hour from Harper's Ferry and a beautiful drive. There is plenty of parking at Great Falls with the main falls being only a 100 yard walk from the lot.
Best Picture Locations
Great Falls and Harper's Ferry are both incredibly unique terrains in this area. Any view of the Falls won't be a bad one and Maryland Heights Trail is the classic Harper's Ferry picture.
